Carla’s unwavering support was an anchor that allowed me to go deep within myself, shine light on my shadows and honor my power.
Her commitment to her work is in service to women, to birth and to nature. She shows up with presence, discernment and gentle knowing which always made me feel empowered and in authority of my body and my birth experience. She is sensitive and protective of the spiritual energetics of the pregnancy, birth and postpartum space whilst still being grounded in tending to the earthly practicalities.
She draws from a wide array of well-integrated skills for what’s needed in the moment: bodywork, nourishment, handcrafted herbal medicines, ceremony to honor the sacred rite of passage and embodied wisdom. This made my visits with her so rich and nurturing.
Carla held me with love, tenderness and care in depths that I have never received before by another woman. To learn that I am deserving of receiving this intimacy and care from a sister has been absolutely profound. My relationship with Carla is one I will cherish close to my heart forever.

Carla was my doula for the birth of my son, Bodhi. She supported me and my family through pregnancy and postpartum. It’s hard to put into words how amazing and how needed the work that Carla provides is. The care she provided was profound and she prepared us for birth beautifully.
Our prenatal sessions were some of my favourite moments where we shared herbal teas, worked through some processes and chatted all things birth. Carla’s care and knowledge in terms of natural medicine through herbs and bodywork was incredible. We had some standout sessions working with my partner, showing him some bodywork to support me in both pregnancy and labour. I cannot overstate enough how important this period was for building a strong and supportive relationship.
In terms of psychological support, I spoke to Carla about preconceptions, expectations and fears. Without judgement, Carla listened and held space for me to dig deep and unearth concerns I was holding onto, such as the fear that normal birth was not possible for my lineage. This was the biggest hurdle for me to face as this story had been imprinted on me my whole life. Carla’s support through this stage was pivotal for my birthing journey as she shared her own birth story and the wisdom she had gained by birthing two babies herself. On top of this, Carla provided me with a plethora stories, videos of powerful women and incredible books from her personal library which assisted in easing so many anxieties. Voicing fears early on in my pregnancy allowed me time to process and integrate them so that I could enter the birth space with confidence and ease. I found these chats so valuable for my birth preparation and her support through this stage was pivotal for my birthing journey.
My due date came and passed so there were questions from extended family surrounding induction, I felt this pressure immensely. Carla reminded me to trust in my body, my baby, and the divine timing of birth, encouraging me to relax and soak up the last few days with my partner. It was exactly what I needed to hear and my labour began at 42 +3. On the morning of my sons birth Carla popped in to give me some gentle body work. She encouraged me to attend our local birth circle where women shared their own stories of birth and transition. It was perfectly timed and I left feeling calm and rejuvenated and ready to face labour in all it’s glory. Her presence at the birth was calm and received like a warm hug. From the sound of my waters breaking to the intense feeling of my sons head crowning, she was there by my side reassuring me at each stage that everything was normal. Her support in these moments were invaluable. In knowing that she had traversed this landscape before me with the birth of her own two children, I was able to release completely.
Carla’s postpartum care was the most beneficial for our family as a whole. At a time where I didn’t want any visitors I was always so happy to see her. She felt like a sister coming over to help out and just knowing what needed to be done around the house. She would bring beautiful herbal teas & elixirs, stock the house with delicious snacks which I would devour way too quickly and provided nourishing meals for my family made from local, organic produce. I received tailored healing therapies based on what I was needing that day, from yoni steams and herbal soaks to warm oil and shiatsu massages. My perineum spray and therapeutic oils were topped up and a hand crafted bunch of flowers were left for the week. While Carla’s work was focused on supporting me it meant that my son was landing into this world gently.
The birth of my son was such a pivotal and empowering point in my life and I believe it wouldn’t have been the same without Carla’s support. Initially I felt it was indulgent having a doula, as well as a midwife, but after receiving Carla’s care I wouldn’t choose to birth without her. Carla is kind, caring, thoughtful, patient, generous and calming. She allowed me to enter into motherhood with ease and I still feel the effects of her care one and a half years on. Doula’s are an essential part of the birth continuum and every birthing woman should receive this level of care, if you are lucky enough to have Carla you’ve been truely blessed.

Investing in Carla for birth mentoring, birth support and postpartum care was
important to me.
We had a beautiful pregnancy and felt so supported. I navigated appointments within the system and felt like I had made decisions best for me. I felt empowered and confident in my choices to birth outside of the system.
Carla was always available to talk through any issues I had during pregnancy and met up with my birth support team to help prepare for our beautiful home birth.
During my labour I was so confident and ready to experience the depths of
birth and rebirth as a mother of two.
Carla was a reassuring peaceful presence during the birth of our daughter. She provided practical support topping up the birth pool, adding wood to the fire, preparing herbal teas and food so my partner could solely focus on me. Having Carla there with her experience and knowledge around birth made me confident I could rely on her to hold the space around birth and immediate postpartum.
It was such a beautiful experience and I'm so glad we got to share these moments. From birthing my placenta to our cord burning ceremony. Having my mother there and my younger daughter was such a healing experience.
Postpartum support is so important. Carla brings so much wisdom and guidance as well as amazing herbal medicine and nourishing meals. Providing yoni steaming, body work, moxibustion and different healing modalities that suited where I was in my postpartum period.
I looked forward to our regular visits throughout my fourth trimester. Having Carla there gave me strength and was so beautiful to be vulnerable and cared for by a sister.
Carla's flexible payment plans made it possible for me to receive care in one of the most transformative experiences of my life.
This birth experience has had a generational healing impact on our whole family. I'm so glad that we had Carla to walk beside us to be loved and cared for in this way is such a gift.

We invested in Carla for the full duration of my pregnancy, birth and postpartum journey.
During my pregnancy I was tested in many ways and due to a series of unfortunate events found myself on the journey towards a free birth. Carla was my rock every step of the way, unfaltering in her belief that my journey was unfolding exactly the way it was supposed to. She gently guided me to follow my intuition and held strong the belief that women have everything they need withinthemselves, to birth in the way that makes them feel safe.
During my birth journey I felt I needed pep talks from Carla. When I was experiencing crises of confidence she reminded me that everything was moving as it was supposed to. I feared the pain of active labour because my early labour went on for some time. Carla reminded me that once you cross the threshold into active labour your hormones move
with your body and mind and the idea of pain changes. I found these pep talks very reassuring and helpful. Carla also allowed my partner to take time to rest and rejuvenate so that he could support me as best he could. She fed me tasty nourishing food, she danced with me, we took walks around my garden chatting
and she captured the birth of our baby on camera so beautifully - which was amazing! She also has magic hands and did some lovely gentle body work during labour. Her support during pregnancy and labour was gentle, guiding, confident, reassuring,
feminine, strong and so much appreciated.
Carla encouraged us to dive deep into a community supported, restful and quiet fourth trimester, which we did and we are so happy to have made that commitment to our family and new baby. And this is where Carla really stepped it up!
I could taste the love in the nourishing food she prepared for me and my family. I could feel the love in the herbs she prepared for the various healing modes she offered me; and in her gentle healing hands during body work and
the closing ceremony she held. I could hear the love in her guiding words as we talked and talked and talked. Unpacking my birth and previous birth, trying
to undo the wrongs of the technocratic birthing system and generally just enjoying a good ol’ chin wag...we talked so much!
Our friendship deepened over time and it was really quite sad to move on past the fourth trimester without Carla’s weekly visits.
Luckily we still get to see each other socially!
We want to thankyou Carla with all our hearts for walking with us through this sacred rite of passage, your support and guidance held us up when all odds seemed against us.
So much love, Kerryn, Alex, Tansy and Anouk xoxo
