Plants & Herbs
I am passionate about herbal medicine and the power of plants as support for childbirth continuum. Please see info for my online workshop below. The next one will be held in early 2025.
I have experienced first hand how herbs are essential for wellness through pregnancy and especially postpartum. I love sharing my knowledge and wisdom in this area with my clients and have recently started hosting workshops to make this more generally accessible.
I will constantly be bringing you home made herbal remedies such as tea blends, infused oils and balms and herbs for yoni steaming and baths.
Currently my online workshops are advertised through my instagram page. Follow along for updates.

About Carla Sage:
I am a mother, birthkeeper, postpartum doula and home herbalist residing on Widjabul Wiabul Country of Bundjalung Nation, Northern Rivers, NSW.
In my early adulthood I made a choice to take all matters of health and healing into my own hands. Stepping away from allopathic medicine has gave me the opportunity to dive into the vast and wonderful world of herbs and their subtle but powerful ways of supporting the body's innate ability to heal.
My confidence and trust in using herbs in a variety of applications has grown over the years. Becoming a mother has deepened the journey by having to tend to my children's ailments and continuously learn and broaden my scope along the way.
I had the support of herbs in my postpartum journey with my first baby. This was a key initiation in my relationship with herbs and another reminder of their power as they supported me through infection, lacerations, blistered nipples and mastitis.
However it was my second postpartum that beckoned me into postpartum care, with herbs as the foundation. I was fortunate enough to be cared for by a wise woman with many years of experience in this tradition. Directly recieving the herbs and practices was such an embodied way to learn. Then, with self study and guidance, I stepped into supporting mothers in my local community and have been doing that consistently for the last 2 years. I am an enthusiastic student of herbs and continuously witness their power to nourish new mothers and protect them from common postpartum dis-ease.
In full transparency I am not a certified practitioner and I don't pretend to act as one.
The content of this workshop does not claim to diagnose or treat any condition.
Rather it is a space for inspiration around the use of herbs in the postpartum time and how they can support healing in a variety of ways.
We will be focusing especially on nourishing, tonifying herbs and practices rather than acute conditions in which engaging a professional may be more appropriate.
I feel compelled to share outside of the bounds of certification, because I see how much this path limits us from accessing the rich and diverse offerings of our plant allies. Infact, very few studies are available for using herbs in the peri-natal time. Whereas lived experience speaks volumes for safety and effectiveness.
Everything I know has come to me through lived experience of receiving the herbs in my own postpartum journeys, as well as through caring for others in their postpartum.
I am in deep relationship to many of the herbal allies I use; growing, harvesting, processing and then of course preparing into remedies suitable for postpartum mothers.
It's so important that this knowledge is returned to the people and that more mothers are held and cared for in collaboration with herbal allies.
The transference in this workshop will take place through the wise woman tradition of sharing verbally and anecdotally, of giving and recieving. This is how I have learned and how I wish to teach. I honour my teachers and the lineage of women that have kept this wisdom alive. Im so glad you are drawn to this way and I really look forward to sharing with you all.
